Can you help?

Whether sharing skills, connections, or funds - all helps! There are options for direct and indirect, large or small ways to share!

Donations large and small can go into fund for an award for innovative practices and projects that improve service access and quality. . .simple fun-raising ideas from Doctors of the World here

We would like to produce an annual "passport booklet" with a page to honour each friend that invests in our vision and mission - do you have   graphic design skills to help us?

We're looking for a book buddy per university/state to collect donated OT text books. We can offer these to students sourcing their text book list. Why buy new, hunt for second hand, if you can look and rent (and save $) online via OOFRAS Inc - turning a text book list into funding for occupational justice initiatives! Contact us for more info if you like the idea!

Indulge your pragmatical inclinations - an online order to send OOFRAS Inc some eco-catering supplies won't take long or break the bank! It helps us channel donations directly to refugees - for example, we employ local refugees to cater for our workshops and events by off-setting other costs such as eco-plates, bowls, cutlery etc They are made from palm leaf -you'll want some for your next BBQ or picnic yourself once you see & smell them!

We're looking for a couple of students who have done practice placements with refugees to share stories. There are two students already keen to have a conversation (that we can record and upload as a podcast) to explain to prospective students why you'd want to do a placement like that anyway.. .and also what to expect. We know you're out there cause we talk to you. . .just get in touch if you're keen!

We want to buy a kindle and kindle books and reference texts so we can share our "library" would you like to sponsor the kindle or our first book

Do you have a reference list from a past paper, project or thesis with refugees or asylum seekers? (focused on occupational needs and health) Join or share them with our research group collating a hand picked collection perfect for OTs - freely available on Mendely.

Are you a news and networking feind? Be a guest moderator on our Facebook page surrounding an UN event or time-limited theme or even a debate. You encourage OTs to join, listen in, discuss, comment, invite expert guest comment etc. Or on a micro scale, you can take over a Twitter account for a week or month on a certain topic - tweeting a stream of facts, news, links relevant for OTs!

We'd like to recruit a reference group as to develop senario based learning resources about OTs working with refugees -expertise is of course very welcome! But interest, willingness to learn, and commitment to participate is the engine of results  so you don't diminish expertise of being a practitioner! Online dialogue and feedback would be enriched by having OTs with a range of work backgrounds and types of experience with refugee and asylum seekers. . .interested?

Do you have links to a group or website who share similar mission concerning refugee and asylum seekers participation in occupations, life roles, and community for health and human rights? Put us in touch and perhaps we can link to each others websites?

Do you know someone with the nerd skills to write the code to embed a "Thank you from OOFRAS Inc" button? Their webmaster just copies it into their webpage - so we can visibly thank them for their support with link back to our site for more info about their contribution.

Do you want to lead a discrete project in close collaboration with directors as our UN Global Compact project leader? The result is that OOFRAS Inc complies with the compact principles and has a plan and process to keep weaving together environment, human rights, transparency etc to be good organisational "citizen". This is a foundation to administer money internationally confident we can avoid corruption or inadvertant harm.

Do you know someone who has done a practice placement with refugees or asylum seekers? Ask them to share their story with a simple online form so individual experiences become a body of experience! Most people underestimate the value of their experience unless they are asked by someone they know!

Do you know an OT with Art Therapy qualifications? (we've met a few over the years - where are you?) Opportunities for art therapy could be valuable for some refugees, and any work donated could be framed and "leased" to office buildings etc as a fundraiser. Funds could go to scholarship fund supporting people with refugee background in developing economy  (where 4/5ths of the worlds refugees are)to study OT.

Do you want to see OT help vulnerable people have their voice and interests amplified? OOFRAS Inc has engaged in advocacy sporadically over the years, all the while aware we need a systematic approach to monitor needs, monitor responses by governments, colleagues in health care, NGOs and citizen movements, spotting opportunities to lend our voice to highlight occupational needs, occupational implications of decisions, supporting initiatives that build an occupationally just community etc. Technology makes this easy, there is much you can do, even if you can only work online!

We want OT authors to have a snapshot of each relevant journal to support publishing decisions. see "For Researchers" page for a list of journals and a link to a "review form". There may be other journals to list. There may be other info OTs want, so we can DIY review form if we want to capture other info (eg how many OTs have published about refugee issues/practice already) This is a mini-project which can be done 100% online, with flexibility, without any time-pressure, and with an allocated board member to be a support via Skype.

We need an OOFRAS member to work with our secretary as an Event LINK to keep OOFRAS members updated about call for papers, conferences, seminars etc. The role entails managing an "events" oofras email address to subscribe to agencies of interest, and upload events to our Facebook Page throughout the year. This is an important, but not intiminating role which may suit an OT or student with a couple hours a month, just wanting to start doing something practical to help, whilst learning more. A perk is the fact that you will have a "cutting edge" view and internatational orientation to the sector! Each call for papers gives a background to the relevant issue which will build your literacy in this field of work. You need to be a member to manage email list, a proactive networker so we subscribe across all relevant international agencies, willing to learn how to do these online tasks, and work with guidance and feedback to secretary. Contact us if this sounds like you!?
