Legal protection and provision for displaced people covers:  

  • People who are outside their home country and afraid to go home fearing persecution
  • People whose fears of persecution are well founded, and based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, membership of a particular group   
  • People who can't safely live in another area of my home country
  • People whose government can't or won't protect them
  • People who don't already have the right to live safely in another third country
  • People who have not comitted a war crime or other serious crime
