Welcome to OOFRAS Inc
Our name "Occupational Opportunities for Refugees & Asylum Seekers Inc" is a statement of our vision; that people with refugee experiences can participate in daily occupations, life roles, and community; can access occupational therapy services as needed, and build occupationally just communities.
Occupational therapists hold this participation as the cornerstone to creating and embodying health. Without participation in occupations and life roles, health and human rights are nothing more than words.
This stance is supported by the World Health Organisation's International Classification of Function (here), enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (here), and underlined by the World Federation of Occupational Therapy's Position Statement on Human Rights (here).
Our mission
OOFRAS mission is to lead increases in quality of and access to occupational therapy services for people with refugee experiences.
Small actions add up because they are lead, coordinated, leveraged globally. More examples of local and global expression of the three elements of our mission here. Check out these action profiles to see examples to get you thinking about what actions make sense in your local context.
